Introduction

The College of Management, Tunghai University, was founded in 1976. In 1973, two business-related Departments, Business Administration and International Business, were created within the College of Arts. In 1976, the two Departments, along with the newly established Department of Accounting, formed the College of Business. In 1983, the College of Business was renamed the College of Management. Currently, the College is comprised of six departments. By the year of establishment from the earliest, they are Department of Business Administration (1973), Department of International Business (1973), Department of Accounting (1976), Department of Statistics (1984), Department of Finance (1999), and Department of Information Management (2002). In addition, the EMBA Office, created in 1999, aims to administrate the classes exclusively open to industry professionals in the MBA program.

The current building of the College of Management was completed in April 2007 and officially inaugurated in September of the same year. All the courses offered by the College began to be taught there. The faculty and professional staff moved in for service as well. To facilitate student access, two dormitories were constructed in a site nearby and started to accommodate all the freshmen of the College in September 2010. A de facto independent mini-campus has, since then, emerged inside the vast campus of Tunghai University. Currently, the University’s Office of General Affairs provides an intensive shuttle service for students across the campus.

The aim of the College of Management is to educate successful business managers. Strong emphasis is placed on the cultivation of the whole person in a liberal, democratic and diversified academic atmosphere, in accordance with the spirit of the University motto: “Truth, Faith, and Deeds.” For the past thirty years, our graduates have been devoting themselves to many diverse professions. Their outstanding achievements have earned wide recognition and high praise for Tunghai’s College of Management.
